Hi, my name is Diana this is my website. Everyone keeps telling me I need an "about me" page so here it goes.
I live in the Tampa Bay area Florida, with my charming English husband and our two dogs Sadie and Max. We moved to the Tampa bay area in 2002 because London was "too bloody cold" I had lived in Clearwater Florida for about 15 years before we got married so when I had enough of the cold English weather, I suggest to Ken we take a little holiday back to Florida. The weather was glorious and when I said "lets stay" he said "why not?" and so we did.
So why have I told you about my husband and my dogs when this is a site about my weight loss? Because Ken is my biggest fan, he is part trainer, part coach, 100% motivator and a wonderful husband. Not to mention that he has the most adorable English accent. Not that I've noticed but women point it out to him everywhere we go. "Ohhh I just LOVE your accent" *giggle" He takes it in stride but if I had a dollar for every time we've heard that....you know the story. I didn’t marry him for his accent, he is an amazing man who sees right through my tough exterior and straight into my heart and soul. He is my best friend, my biggest fan and the love of my life all rolled into one. Oh and he thinks I’m pretty great too.
Sadie and Max are my walking buddies. They love to walk and they are very vocal about "their" walk time. There are days when I don't feel like getting out there and walking but after a bit of encouragement (whining) from them, I put on my shoes and we get out there. They are an integral part of my success.
My blog, Scale Junkie is a chronicle of my journey to lose over 200 pounds. Along the way I share my struggles, triumphs, recipe, and the joys of married life, photos of Sadie and Max and a bit of random babble about life. I started off weighing 425 pounds, my goal is to weigh under 200 pounds, hopefully around 170. It’s a long road, a long journey but I’m armed with an arsenal of support and tools to make my journey successful. Its true, I’m a reformed Scale Junkie. I’ve learned over time that the scale is just one measure of progress on this path to better health.
The Healthy You Challenge Blog was started on a whim. I was receiving so much wonderful support from my fellow bloggers but I often noticed that fabulous blogs received very little commentary. I thought that by bringing together like minded individuals who were all working towards the goal of better health we could all walk this journey together. It has grown beyond my wildest expectations! I’ve received so much wonderful positive feedback.
I started The Daily Dogs blog to learn to use my DSLR camera, its a Sony A-100 DSLR to save you asking. Photography is something I’ve always been interested in and Sadie and Max make fun subjects. Like my weight loss journey, my photography skills are a work in progress.
About a year ago as I was about to turn 40 I told Ken that I
felt like I hadn’t done anything meaningful with my life. Ken has done important
things, things that matter but I just felt like my life hadn’t found its
purpose yet. I felt like something was missing. The other day I was telling Ken about some of the wonderful comments I've received and he commented that perhaps bringing these bloggers together for the challenge was my something meaningful. I suppose if just one person's life is changed for the better, I have done something meaningful.
Thank you for taking the time to look into my world.
Diana
